Finnish/Chinese mobile game publisher MyGamez has announced it's closed its first equity funding round.

The cash came from Finnish investor Vision+ Fund, which had previously invested on a per product basis, and Taiwanese investment outfit Yellowbell.

The amount raised wasn't revealed.

With offices in Shanghai and Tianjin in China and Pori in Finland, MyGamez will use the funding to further develop its publishing platform and grow its publishing team.

Hot spot

MyGamez operates by publishing high quality western-developed games in China.

For example, it worked with Fingersoft to bring its Hill Climb Racing to China. Across its portfolio, MyGamez boasts more than 9 million monthly active players, from 47 million downloads.

"We are very excited about the funding round," said MyGamez's CEO Mikael Leinonen.

"Our single SDK publishing model has been proven very successful and the funding allows us to further accelerate our growth".

"We're naturally very pleased with the numbers, and it's great to have a recognised local investor join in," said Vision+ partner Marko Tulonen.

"Yellowbell has an extensive network in the region, especially in the field of local entertainment and celebrity intellectual property (IP). This will allow MyGamez to tap the growing trend of integrating entertainment IP into mobile games.

"Top quality Western games, best-in-class publishing platform and good localisation with local IP is a very strong value proposition."
