Nexon's Pixelberry acquisition provides immediate boost to US revenues
Nexon has released its financials for the full year of its FY17 ending December 31st 2017.
The company posted revenues of $2.16 billion for the year, up 28.3% year-on-year. Profits also grew by a staggering 181.9% year-on-year to $521.5 million for the year.
Revenues also grew in the company's Q4 FY17 to $484.1 million, up 22% year-on-year. Mobile revenues grew by 23% year-on-year during the period, up to $134.1 million. The segment accounted for 28% of revenues in Q4, and 22% of revenues for the year.
Ups and downs
Nexon's acquisition of Pixelberry Studios was particularly helpful in growing revenues, especially in North America. Revenues for the region grew to $29.5 million in Q4, up 53% year-on-year.
Korea also saw mobile growth thanks to the launch of Overhit and existing games such as AxE and Dark Avenger 3. China remained Nexon's highest-grossing region, largely thanks to the continued success of Dungeon&Fighter.
The developer is still working on a mobile version of Dungeon&Fighter for China, which it hopes to launch sometime in 2018. It also has a string of titles to launch in Korea, including MapleStory Blitz and Durango: Wild Lands.
