Universal Games has partnered with narrative games specialist Endless Entertainment to jump in on the hot interactive fiction space with new title Series Your Story Universe.

The game is pitched as a “mobile entertainment platform” that will feature contest based on NBCUniversal’s portfolio of film and TV IP. Players will get to create their own avatar and then star in new storylines.

Tapping well-known IP

Expected stories in 2019 include those inspired by Vanderpump Rules, Saved By The Bell, The Breakfast Club and Law & Order. New content is expected to be added on a regular basis and will also feature other IP in the future.

Universal and Endless’ strategy appears similar to that of Pocket Gems’ Episode, which has partnered with IP and big names for stories in the past, including Pretty Little Liars and Demi Lovato.

In fact, Pocket Gems partnered with Universal Studios last year on a story based on Pitch Perfect.

Series Your Story Universe is currently available on Google Play in the US, Canada and Australia for a limited period. A global release is expected in 2019.

“Storytelling is the soul of what we do at NBCUniversal and Series Your Story Universe will elevate the way players experience a narrative-based game, by letting them direct how they want their stories to be told,” said Universal executive VP of games and digital platforms Chris Heatherly.

“Featuring a captivating mix of genres from across NBCUniversal’s film and television properties – from comedy and romance, to drama and reality television – fans can look forward to interacting with some of their favourite genre-defining characters.”
