Pocket Gamer rocks the Shanghai night at ChinaJoy 2014

ChinaJoy is the Chinese equivalent of European game show Gamescom.

It's a massive celebration of gaming - both in terms of consumers and the industry.

The only differences are more cosplay girls, a more flexible attitude towards organisation, and the heat, humidity and excitement of being based in Shanghai: the world's biggest city and the centre of Chinese international trade.

After all, there's no other Pocket Gamer Mobile Mixer that has the view that our ChinaJoy 2014 event had.

From left to right, as you look over the river to the Pudong financial district you can see the Oriental Pearl Tower, the Jin Mao Tower, the Shanghai World Financial Center (aka the Cheese Grater) and the soon-to-finished Shanghai Tower, which will take the crown as the tallest building in China when it's completed later in 2014.

It will also be the world's second tallest building.

Reaching for the skies

As for our Mixer, sponsored by Chinese mobile publisher and platform Chukong Technologies and US app haptics outfit Immersion, it was held in the elegant Shanghai Rose venue on the Bund.

Over 250 people turned up to network with a sophisticated selection of food and drinks, not to mention experience the DJing skills of AppLift's Jason Santillano.

You can see all the photos from the event on our Facebook gallery.

And don't forget to check out our forthcoming events, including a Mobile Mixer, a Big Indie Pitch and a pirate party at Gamescom/GDC Europe.
