PocketGamer.biz: Tell us about your company's role in the mobile games industry.

Philip Beck: Happylatte has been a developer and publisher of global free-to-play mobile casual games for the last 7 years, based in Beijing, China.

2015 was another hectic year for the industry, what were the highlights or most important developments you saw?

The growth of smartphone penetration in India, with more than 30 million new devices connecting each month.

PG Connects kicks off 2016, give us a prediction or two of what we can expect to see in the new year.

  • 1st Prediction: By Dec 2016, one new mobile game will be released globally every 2 minutes and only 2.5% will have monthly revenues greater than $1.
  • 2nd Prediction: WhatsApp will copy WeChat’s functionality and test it in India before rolling out globally, which could be the death of Instagram and Facebook Messenger (not a bad thing).
