Tencent-led Series C round pushes total investment in Chinese gamecasting platform Douyu TV to over $2 billion

Tencent has pushed investment in Chinese gamecasting platform Douyu TV to over $2 billion. The Chinese corporation had previously invested in the platform in March 2016 during its Series B funding round, where it cleared $1 billion - of which $400 million came from Tencent. Douyu has now raised a further $225 million from Tencent and Qingdao Phoenix Capital in a Series C round.

Even before Supercell deal closes, Tencent sees huge surge in mobile game revenues.

Tecent’s financials for FY16 Q2 show total revenues have increased to $5.4 billion. That’s a growth of 52% year-on-year. Profits were also up 47% to $1.6 billion a year. The company attributed most of its revenue increase to publishing PvP and RPG games on smartphones.
