Sony ForwardWorks to release up to six games across the next 18 months

Sony's mobile-focused ForwardWorks studio is aiming to release five or six new titles in its 2017 fiscal year.

The games will launch on both Android and iOS. ForwardWorks will release the games in Japan first before expanding their launch to the rest of Asia. There is no word on whether they will receive a Western release.

Third time's the charm

The studio was established in March 2016 with SCE Japan and Asia's president Atsushi Mortia taking over as director of the studio. It will use PlayStation brands to create fully-fledged games for mobile.

Sony's CEO Kaz Hirai has previously stated that Sony would be aggressively tackling mobile following the success of Pokemon GO. Hirai claimed that AR technology would "lift all boats for the video game industry".

There's no word on what brands will be coming to mobile or in what form, though the Wall Street Journal has suggested Hot Shots Golf and The Last Guardian may make the leap to mobile.
