Newzoo's report breaks it down

NetEase and Tencent continued to dominate the App Store in China in October

NetEase dominated the Apple App Store in China during October 2016.

That's according to Newzoo's report on the top iOS games globally, which looked at iOS grossing and download ranks in the US, Europe and China

It found that NetEase had the most games in the top ten grossing charts on iOS in China, with four games in total ranked. Its closest competitor, Tencent, had two titles in the top ten.

Old and new

NetEase also held the top spot of the iOS chart with its recently released Onmyoji. The game placed ahead of both NetEase's own mega-success Fantasy Westard Journey and Tencent's MOBA King of Glory.

Tencent did place better in the download charts however, with King of Glory ranking second, ahead of Onmyoji in third place. It had two other games in the top ten of the download charts, while NetEase had two in total.

Onmyoji was recently hailed by NetEase as one of its most recent major successes. The game helped push NetEase's revenues to $1.38 billion in Q3 FY16.
