Early signs point toward positive reception in Japan

Lineage 2: Revolution racks up one million pre-registrations ahead of Japan launch

Netmarble’s smash hit mobile game Lineage 2: Revolution has racked up one million pre-registrations ahead of its launch in Japan.

Pre-registrations began back in April 28th, though an official launch date has yet to be announced.

"It is very unusual for a mobile game to receive more than one million pre-orders in Japan," an anonymous Netmarble employee told Yohap News Agency.

Record breaker

Lineage 2: Revolution has quickly become one of the most successful mobile games ever thanks to a blockbuster first month in which it generated $176 million.

Lineage 2 has been steadily rolled out to neighbouring countries in Asia, and is due to launch in China and the US by the end of 2017.

It continues to be a top grossing game in South Korea, only recently outdone by NCSoft’s Lineage M, which has reportedly made more than $233 million in its first month.
