GungHo revenues drop to $613.9 million as Puzzle & Dragons continues to face decline

Gearing up to launch new titles to stem the decline

GungHo revenues drop to $613.9 million as Puzzle & Dragons continues to face decline

GungHo Online Entertainment has released its financials for its Q3 FY17 for the nine months ending September 30th 2017.

It posted revenues of $613.9 million for the period, down 19.9% year-on-year. Profits for the period also fell by 22.6% year-on-year to $157.4 million.

The decline in sales is down to the continual decline of Puzzle & Dragons. Despite 62 million downloads worldwide, the game still saw its net sales fall.

Branching out

GungHo is therefore focusing its efforts on developing new titles for global release, while attempting to maintain MAUs in its existing games. Divine Gate, for example, received a major storyline update in the form of Divine Gate Zero.

The developer did not go into any further details on when its new games are expected to launch. One of these new titles is likely to come from its partnership with Signal Studios back in August 2017.

GungHo is also the publisher for Turbo Studio's strategy eSports title Super Senso, which launched in North America in April 2017. The game was not mentioned in GungHo's financials.
