Spil Games expands exec team with hires from Bigpoint and Ubisoft

Spil Games has made two high-profile hires, poaching experienced publishing and monetisation specialists from Ubisoft and social gaming competitors Bigpoint.

Formerly Bigpoint's head of publishing, Jan-Michel Saaksmeier has joined Spil Games as the company's first head of licensing for mobile publishing.

"My particular talent is in spotting those with the potential to make it huge, and working with their developers to realise that potential," said Saaksmeier.

Experience is key

Spil's second hire, Christian Godorr, is another former Bigpoint employee, having risen to the rank of game director in his seven-year stint.

More recently, however, he was director of monetisation at Ubisoft Singapore.

He joins Spil Games as director of game design and monetisation.

"I established the fundamental assets for Bigpoint's success in virtual selling," said Godorr.

"I completely understand the free-to-play business model and user monetization, revenue and scalability."

Tung Nguyen-Khac, CEO of Spil Games, has big plans for the experience these new hires are bringing to the team.

"We already have a superb team and we are now augmenting it to sharpen our focus on publishing the best in new mobile games and in optimising revenue," he said.

Features Editor

Matt is really bad at playing games, but hopefully a little better at writing about them. He's Features Editor for PocketGamer.biz, and has also written for lesser publications such as IGN, VICE, and Paste Magazine.
