SEGA hires ex-FunPlus GM Joseph Kim to lead its mobile strategy in the west

SEGA Networks, the San Francisco-based mobile division of SEGA, has announced the recruitment of Joseph Kim as Vice President of Product.

His key role will be defining product strategy and serving as the liaison between Sega's internal and external teams, and the rest of SEGA’s publishing organization.

Kim was formerly Studio Head in the Strategy Division at Vancouver-based FunPlus, where he also acted as External GM.

Instrumental

“This position is instrumental in pulling all three of our wholly owned studios and two studio investments together to drive SEGA’s success on mobile,” said Chris Olson, COO, SEGA Networks.

“Kim’s rich background in successfully bringing games to market along with his experience in consulting and analytics makes him the best candidate for the job, and we look forward to seeing him work his magic.”

Kim is also known for launching early social game League of Heroes on Facebook and Myspace, and working on mobile titles such as NBA Rush and Fantasy Quest.

"In mobile gaming, the best is yet to come,” said Kim.

“I look forward to working with the teams at SEGA to help deliver awesome game experiences to existing and future SEGA customers."
