Hero Academy 2 developer Robot Entertainment lays off over 30 employees

Hero Academy 2 developer Robot Entertainment is set to lay off over 30 members of staff.

Employees to be made redundant include designers, programmers, artists, marketers, producers and QA testers.

The Texas-based studio cited its move to a single project focus as the reasoning for the decision. More details on its next game are set to be revealed soon.

Robot Entertainment had seen growth in its headcount over the past 18 months with two teams working on Hero Academy 2 and PC title Orcs Must Die! Unchained.

CEO Patrick Hudson said that while the company is shifting to one team both existing games will continue to be supported.

Winds of change

“The coming days will be difficult as we say goodbye to friends and colleagues,” said Hudson.

“We are grateful to have had the opportunity to work with them all.”
