'Animoca' holds back actual figures

150 apps later, Hong Kong-based Outblaze Ventures closes series A funding round
Mobile developer and publisher Outblaze Ventures – also known as Animoca - has just closed its latest round of funding, raising an unspecified amount from investors Intel Capital and IDG-Accel.

The money, which the company says will be used to further develop its games business, comes after the launch of 150 apps across iOS and Android since the Hong Kong-based firm rolled out in January 2011.

Living it large

The firm's most popular titles include Pretty Pet Salon, Pretty Pet Tycoon and Pretty Pet Pony.

"With dozens of top-ranked apps and more than 40 million downloads worldwide, in just ten months we have built Animoca into one of the – if not the – largest app game companies in this part of the world," said David Kim, CEO and co-founder of Animoca.

"We expect continued growth as we further expand our business on all fronts. The global app market continues to grow, and our goal is to establish the Animoca brand as a major international leader in smartphone games; the investments from Intel Capital and IDG-Accel will be critical to our efforts."
