W3i extends freemium framework Games Platform beta to Android
Monetisation specialist W3i has announced its extending its Games Platform beta for freemium releases across to Android, following its roll out on iOS back in August.

The platform is designed to act as a framework for free-to-play releases, handling everything from servers and storefronts to maintenance and security.

Freemium for all

"The Games Platform provides solutions to some key challenges game developers face when embarking in freemium game development," the firm said in a statement.

"Interviews with a number of games developers revealed common challenges with freemium game development, including server set up, maintenance and security, the development of an inventory management system and storefront, and actionable analytics."

Indeed, concerns many indie outfits can't afford to handle the logistics of freemium development are high on W3i's agenda, with the firm offering the beta for free for those who sign up before 31 May.

"For these small-shop developers, funds and resources are at a premium," detailed W3i back in August.

"Most would prefer to focus on developing a highly interactive, quality game rather than worry about hardware and software procurement needed to support the game infrastructure."

Those looking to sign up should visit W3i's website.
