Developer derby: London gains free 8 day game dev workshop
Setting up base on the trendy streets of London's Shoreditch, Microsoft's creative hive Modern Jago has unveiled a series of free workshops designed to aid developers master game design.

The eight day long event will consist a series of free hacks and classes cover everything from introducing the principles of game design to how to build a game from scratch.

Work it

"Everyone loves games, right?," opens Modern Jago's page on the workshop.

"Reason enough for our new series of free game design and game hack workshops. Why not come along?"

The descriptions of said workshops suggest that, in most cases, little to no experience is required, though to build a game from scratch, trips to some of the earlier workshops is recommended.

No specific formats are expressly mentioned, though - given Microsoft's involvement - it seems likely Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 will form the focus.

Said workshops will run between Saturday 8 December and Sunday 16 December. Outside of the talks, Modern Jago also allows creatives to book free working space slots for small groups or individuals on Mondays and Tuesdays.
