Firm Finnish: Sulake veteran sets up PR agency aimed at Finnish devs

Finnish PR veteran Merja Turpeinen has launched SagaSocial - a PR service specifically aimed at Finnish games and technology companies.

SagaSocial will focus on enhancing its clients international visibility through the use of industry contacts and a global network of industry focused PR agencies.

Local PR, for local people

"Considering the recent great news on the Finnish game industry, it's clear that the industry is booming and more success stories can be expected," explained Turpeinen, who most recently worked as head of PR & communications at Habbo Hotel outfit Sulake.

"SagaSocial was founded to convey the new success stories to the world."

SagaSocial is due to publish its first client cases and launch its media platform later on this month, with Koopee Hiltunen, director of Finnish game industry organisation Neogames, claiming its role could be key to ensuring Finnish developers are able to compete globally.

"Marketing has become an increasingly significant function to game studios, but most of the studios don't have the expertise needed on marketing and communications," said Hiltunen.

"There is a clear demand for experienced professionals, who can offer these services and are familiar with the industry."

What do you call someone who has an unhealthy obsession with video games and Sean Bean? That'd be a 'Chris Kerr'. Chris is one of those deluded souls who actually believes that one day Sean Bean will survive a movie. Poor guy.
