Kabam finds the licence it was looking for: announces RPG Star Wars: Uprising

Over the years Kabam has made games based on some pretty big movie licences - The Hobbit, Fast & Furious and The Hunger Games, to name just three.

Gaining the ability to leverage the marketing machine surrounding Star Wars: The Force Awakens, not to mention the franchise's inherent fanbase, crowns them all, however.

It's just announced that its San Francisco-based Kabam RPG team has been working on Star Wars: Uprising for around a year.

Currently there's no details on when the game will be released, although Kabam says it will be soft launching in select territories in the coming weeks.

Collect and craft gear

In terms of how the game fits into the Star Wars canon, Uprising takes place after Return of the Jedi and before new film The Force Awakens.

This setting will see players battling against the Empire in Anoat Sector, including Hoth and Cloud City, following the Battle of Endor and the death of the Emperor.

It's still cold on Hoth

Labelled a classic RPG, and developed by veterans of the RPG scene from studios such as BioWare and Blizzard, you'll get to play with hundreds of abilities, collecting and crafting iconic gear with character classes ranging from smuggler to bounty hunter, rebel guerilla, diplomat, gambler or something unique.
