Local branding campaigns power Summoners War beyond 40 million downloads worldwide

Com2uS has announced that, little over a year after its June 2014 global launch, Summoners War has exceeded 40 million downloads worldwide.

Summoners War has reached a top 10 grossing position in 98 countries on the App Store, and 88 on Google Play, but the Los Angeles arm of the South Korean firm has been keen to flex its marketing muscles on a more local scale.

January this year saw the unveiling of a major US branding campaign - including hookups with Vine stars - and full feature commercial, as well as an out-of-home marketing initiative specifically targeted at the greater Los Angeles region.

Understanding

"We’re very proud of the success of Summoners War and are dedicated to listening to our existing community as we continue pushing out new and exciting content,” said Casey Lee, Head of Com2uS USA.

"We make a conscious effort to understand each market and approach marketing tactics in ways that make sense for a specific audience."

"Paying close attention to users in emerging markets and building custom campaigns for them have proven to be an effective method for us. It has made way not only for successful marketing campaigns, but also a means to create content that our users want and look forward to.”

To celebrate the milestone, Com2uS will be rolling out several in-game events for Summoners War throughout the next couple of weeks.
