Video: Kabam's Chris Petrovic on expanding into Asia

As part of Pocket Gamer Connects San Francisco 2015, Chris Petrovic, SVP & Head of Corporate Development at Kabam, gave a talk on expanding into the Eastern market.

"Spoiler alert: not very easy to do," he warned, saying that "having local knowledge, local presence, local partners, just understanding the local market dynamics are very important."

Not all success is measured equally

Petrovic also said that while it's important to think globally, "not all success is measured equally," as a game that has been success in Japan may not even rank in the USA.

Interestingly, he pointed out that India had, at the time, no local games in the App Store top ten, and that the market was "clearly gravitating to more Western IP," which makes it a good market for Western developers to look into.
