Fire your game into space. No, really.

Video: Spacetime Studios on alternative approaches to user acquisition

As part of Pocket Gamer Connects San Francisco 2015, Ari Sapriel, Marketing Manager at Spacetime Studios, gave a talk about the problems with user acquisition, and inventive ways to bypass them.

Sapriel said that, due to an oversaturation of the ad network space in recent years, "you don't really know who you can trust", so it's hard to know if your money is being well spent.

Thinking outside the box

The increased interest in advertising, and increased number of business, has also driven up the cost of user acquisition, so Sapriel offers up some "zany ideas" to bypass traditional UA spending.

One of these ideas is a publicity stunt, which he says are "the most fun ways" to get people's attention, such as EA launching a copy of their game Mass Effect 3 into space.
