Get the lowdown on the fast-growing Indian mobile games market on 21-22 April at PGC Bangalore 2016

As the world’s biggest mobile markets in China, US, and Japan get ever more congested and acquisition costs skyrocket, the smart players are keenly looking for the next opportunity to get ahead of the game.

Whilst some South East Asian territories are developing nicely and will already be on the radar, the biggest market in the region is also starting to show signs of offering genuine opportunity.

India has over 1 billion citizens and smartphone penetration is exploding at a rate of 26% (2014-19), having overtaken China last year in high-end smartphone volume growth.

Changing fast

Indeed, like China before it, the country is modernising fast and – also like China – it lacks an ingrained console or PC games base, so mobile will prove to be players’ first gaming screen.

And this means a massive opportunity for the mobile gaming industry.

Pocket Gamer Connects Bangalore 2016 on April 21st-22nd is far more than just a friendly and familiar route into this new market, though.

Five conference tracks will return to cover off the essentials, from the latest data and insight from the local market (India First), to the freshest UA and monetisation trends and techniques on a global scale (Monetise, Retain, Acquire).

Meanwhile, our familiar East Meets West core track will split its focus between Asian and South East Asian markets as well as detail the key trends, challenges, and opportunities of the west.

Indie developers are a key part of the story too and, as we discovered in last year’s Game Hack and Big Indie Pitch competition, there’s an abundance of local talent to be uncovered here.

The likes of Skatelander (from Underdogs Studios), A Thief’s Journey (VR Playing Games), Catcher in the Sky (Supersike Games), and many others – including of course eventual runner-up Socioball (Yellow Monkey) and winner Super Nano Jumpers from Xigma Games – convincingly showcase the quality of Indian game development just waiting to be found.

India has overtaken China in high-end smartphone volume growth.

With genuine practical advice on what games to make, how to make them, and how to succeed, the Indie Academy full-day track will help these developers evolve, while a new edition of the Big Indie Pitch will again turn the spotlight on the best regional new titles.

Bigger, better

It’s not just about the new boys in school, though. Using the no-nonsense approach of a strict (but fair) public school headmistress, Mobile Games University delivers a wide ranging curriculum crammed with everything a young (and not-so-young) mobile game developer could possibly want to know in order to successfully establish themselves in this industry.

And that’s just the tracks.

There’s plenty more to get into, not least our renowned dedicated meeting system and countless networking opportunities afforded by PGC’s famed parties!

Last year PGC Bangalore welcomed over 600 delegates – including the biggest names in the Indian games scene.

PGC Bangalore 2015 welcomed over 600 delegates and 2016 will be bigger.

It also crammed in almost 40 hours of sessions and dedicated events, making the show a great one-stop shop for surveying the industry.

This year, we’re aiming higher still. More content, more business opportunities, and more knowhow from key industry figures.

As you’d expect from a PG Connects conference, we already have a raft of leading names from international companies such as EA, Flare Games, iDreamSky, Unity and ZPlay as well as leading Indian developers, publishers and service companies and we’ll be announcing soon.

We have a few speaker slots left (if you want to to talk, submit your pitch here).

We’ll be lifting the lid on this year’s schedule in the coming weeks but in the meantime ticket registration is open - with Super Early Bird tickets running out soon.

So don’t delay: take the chance to get ahead of the pack on the next major mobile games market and join us in Bangalore!
