Rockfish's Michael Schade on how to run a Kickstarter campaign

Be prepared, and don't overpromise

Rockfish's Michael Schade on how to run a Kickstarter campaign

At Pocket Gamer Connects London 2016, Michael Schade, CEO of Rockfish Games, gave a talk on how to effectively use crowdfunding to fund development on your game.

While not entirely applicable to the world of mobile gaming – Schade himself admitted that Rockfish were more focused on PC and console development – Schade's prior experience at Fishlabs means that he does understand the world of mobile gaming.

Don't make a promise you can't keep

He recommended already having started work on the game before starting a Kickstarter, so that you have something to show an audience in order to convince them to back your game, rather than just your idea.

However, Schade suggested that you "don't get carried away", and that you shouldn't overpromise on your game in case you can't actually deliver in the end.
