IMGA to host first Southeast Asia awards in Malaysia, submissions now open

The International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA) will be hosting the first ever mobile games competition in Southeast Asia, in partnership with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) on 8 November 2016.

The IMGA's have been a success in two continents already, with the organisation having held its 12th annual award show in San Francisco recently, but it will be the first time that it will be hosting in SEA and specifically recognising developers from the region.

“Southeast Asia is rightly held up around the world as a hotbed of mobile gaming talent, showing tremendous download and revenue growth year-on-year," said Maarten Noyons, founder of the IMGA.

"As all eyes look to Asia, we are proud to bring IMGA here to celebrate this creative and exciting industry, and can’t wait to see what we ultimately unveil from the community during our ceremony event.”

“We are thrilled to play host to this global event and we are proud to partner with IMGA," added Dato’ Yasmin Mahmood, Chief Executive Officer of MDEC.

"This collaboration is another testament to Malaysia’s commitment on becoming the leading ASEAN hub for games development and we hope that this event will raise more awareness on the quality of our local talents including the robust local games industry in general.”

Developers and publishers in Southeast Asia are welcome to submit their games to the awards over on the official website, with the deadline for entry set at 31 August 2016.
