Disney Infinity discontinuing online services

Disney will retire its online services for Disney Infinity for PC, iOS and Android on September 30th.

The services for Apple TV, Windows 8 and Windows 10 will stop on March 3 2017, next year.

The console and PS Vita versions of Disney Infinity will still be playable and updated, but community content features and online multiplayer will be unavailable.

Not-so infinite

Disney announced the cancellation of its toys-to-life series back in May. This effectively put an end to its involvement in the development of games for console outside of its licensing plans.

As a result of a change in strategy, Disney also shut down developer Avalanche Software and laid off some 300 staff.

The company, which has had mixed results on console in the past, seems to now be doubling down on mobile on the back of huge success for games like EA's Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes and Kabam's Marvel: Contest of Champions.
