Amazon plots its biggest Gamescom ever

Amazon is plotting its biggest presence ever during Gamescom 2016.

The retail giant is keen to push its Amazon Appstore marketplace and Android hardware to the legion of developers, publishers and consumers at the event.

It will be the first time the company has held its own booth in the entertainment area, a sign of the increasing presence of mobile games at Gamescom.

Amazon will sponsor the Indie Arena Booth at Gamescom. It’s also hosting a Developer Day on Wednesday, August 17th for the press and trade.

On Thursday, August 18th, Amazon is set to host the Indie Day. As well as demoing games the firm will present on-stage interviews with developers that will be broadcast over the internet.

Amazon is also sponsoring the Big Indie Pitch on Tuesday, August 16th at the Jameson Distillery.

The pitching event is a chance for developers to put their games in front of a panel of experts, receive feedback and potentially win prizes.

Lastly, prior to Gamescom's kick-off, Amazon is sponsoring the Indie Expo at Respawn 2016 which starts on Monday, August 15th.

It’s a sign that Amazon is eager to make further headway into the Android market and attract developers to the Amazon Appstore.
