Google recruiting game designers and engineers to build "the future of mobile entertainment"

Google recruiting game designers and engineers to build "the future of mobile entertainment"

Google appears to be working on its first mobile game since Niantic Lab's Ingress.

As spotted by Business Insider, the Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) division is looking to hire for several roles, including designers and engineers "to help create the future of mobile entertainment."

It doesn't appear as though ATAP exactly knows what it wants to make, however. The listing for a Gaming Creative Director says the successful applicant will be responsible for establishing the core game mechanics and additional gameplay for a mobile entertainment product.

The job listing also asks for experience in Unity and the ability to "rapidly build whole prototypes".

Experience required

It's not a job for newbies – most roles require at least eight years of experience working in the games industry.

The fact that ATAP is working on a game was also confirmed by a software engineer at the division on LinkedIn, who wrote on his page: "Game dev at Google? Who would have thought this existed? It does, and that's what I'm doing".

You can find out more about the roles Google is hiring for on its careers site.
