Sony reaffirms commitment to mobile following Nintendo's success with Pokemon GO

Sony has said that it will be "aggressively" tackling the mobile gaming market following the success of Pokemon GO.

Speaking to the Financial Times, Sony's CEO Kaz Hirai spoke about how Pokemon GO was a "game-changer", and that its AR technology is "going to lift all boats for the video game industry."

He also said that he would like to include AR in future Sony titles.

Looking Forward

Sony is already poised to make its grand entrance into the mobile space, having opened ForwardWorks, a studio specifically designed to create mobile games, in March 2016.

The studio will only be creating games for the Asia market, using PlayStation brands to create "fully-fledged game titles" for both Android and iOS.
