Nintendo bringing Mario to mobile with premium endless runner Super Mario Run

Nintendo has revealed that it is bringing Mario to mobile with its premium game Super Mario Run.

The game is an endless runner that is designed for one-handed play, and has players tapping to jump, as well as stop in certain points, and switch directions with wall-jumping where required.

There's also multiplayer in the form of Toad Rally, in which players challenge each other to asynchronous races to score the most points through collecting coins and winning the favour of Toads.

Although free-to-start, the game will be a premium title, and is therefore not a part of the five game deal with DeNA.

Super Mario Run is expected to hit iOS before the holiday season in 2016, and is said to be "coming to iOS first", so will presumably land on Android some time in 2017.
