Consumer site to undertake bold redesign

Glen Fox appointed new Editor of PocketGamer.co.uk

Steel Media is pleased to announce the appointment of Glen Fox as the new Editor of PocketGamer.co.uk, the leading website for mobile and handheld gamers.

The latest appointment highlights Steel Media’s continued development and investment in its flagship site.

Glen Fox started his career in games back in 2012, blogging, writing guides for Prima Games, and subsequently being the lead writer for a Hong Kong-based mobile games studio.

He started at Steel Media in 2014, working his way quickly up through the ranks to become editor of Quality Index and then 148Apps, before joining key brand Pocket Gamer as deputy editor.

A new chapter

The new role heralds an exciting chapter for Pocket Gamer as it continues bringing the most important news, guides, features, videos and opinion in mobile gaming to a global audience.

This year will see the site grow its core community and undertake a bold redesign.

"I'm truly delighted to be appointed as Pocket Gamer's editor and I'm proud to be a part of such an awesome team at Steel Media, who continue to thrive on the cutting edge of the industry," said new Editor of PocketGamer.co.uk Glen Fox.

"I firmly believe that 2016 was the biggest year in mobile yet. We saw the launch of the ultimate mobile game in Clash Royale, the biggest mobile game ever in Pokemon GO, and breakout hits like Slither.io and Color Switch demonstrating that you don't need a publisher to make it big. That's a huge positive that no other platform to date has offered.

"In addition to our redesign plans, we'll also continue to grow the App Army, our very own community, who get early access to the hottest games, weekly tournaments with prizes, and much more to come. We are even looking at plans for a consumer event: watch this space."

MD Chris James said: "Pocket Gamer celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, and it’s in the perfect position to grow. Mobile represents the largest sector of the $100 billion video games industry and is clearly the most dynamic.

"Glen has risen through the ranks at Steel Media rapidly because of his passion, talent and love of the mobile gaming market. He’s the kind of person we’ve always encouraged here: driven and creative. He has some great ideas for our flagship brand and its vibrant community.

"We are all excited to see how Pocket Gamer evolves under his stewardship. The team are already working hard to come up with the best ideas for its redesign and relaunch."
