Definitely unaffected by Wooga cuts

Wooga spin-off Black Anvil launches first game Warlords after a year in soft launch

Wooga's spun-off studio Black Anvil Games has released its first title after being in soft launch for a year.

Warlords is a turn-based strategy game that has players building armies of warriors to battle through a hefty campaign and PvP modes. It was first released on September 30th, 2016.

Wooga officially spun-off Black Anvil Games in March 2016, with former Head of Games Wilhelm Oesterberg put in charge of the new studio.

Unaffected

But there were some concerns surrounding the studio when Wooga recently announced its restructuring at the cost of 40 jobs.

But Warlords continued to receive updates, implying the studio was unaffected. The launch of the game now confirms the studio is still continuing on despite Wooga's cuts.

"The key decision made at the end of last year was to keep Wooga focused completely on casual, because I really think you need to build a lot of competence in the genres you're in," said Wooga CEO Jens Begemann on the reason behind Black Anvil's spin-off back in April 2016.
