Ubisoft cans card-battler Rabbids Heroes five months into soft launch

Ubisoft has canned its card-battler Rabbids Heroes after five months in soft launch.

A message pushed to players of the game reveals that the title will be shut down on November 15th. It has already been removed from app stores.

All in-app purchases have been removed from the game. Players have been given enough in-game gold to purchase 100 card packs to play with for the remainder of the game's life.

No rabid fanbase

The closure comes as something as a surprise. The title had been receiving regular updates throughout its soft launch, with new features and cards added at a steady pace.

It is possible that the game wasn't retaining players or monetising in a way that matched Ubisoft's expectations, and the studio decided to close the game instead of carry on with a global launch.

Its other Rabbids-focused soft-launched title, Rabbids Crazy Rush, is still available. The game was soft-launched the same day as Rabbids Heroes.
