24-hour Megapanel livestream on games to raise money for charity

A 24-hour livestreamed panel of industry experts discussing games and culture will take place next week to raise money for gaming charity Special Effect.

The Megapanel will be streamed live from UK games festival Insomnia at the NEC in Birmingham. It will start from 4pm on Friday, December 9th and will run until 4pm Saturday, December 10th.

All talk

Panellists kicking off the stream include Digital Jam's Tanya Laird, Darbotron’s Alex Darby, Altered Gene’s Des Gayle and Unity’s Oscar Clark.

A host of big industry names will join the panel over the course of the 24 hours to discuss different aspects of games and culture. These include Bossa Studios’ Imre Jele, IGDA’s Kate Edwards, Dream Reality Interactive’s Dave Ranyard, YouTuber Daz Black and many more.

Money raised for Special Effect will go toward helping physically disabled people get enjoyment out of games using the latest technological advancements that will assist with therapy, confidence and rehabilitation.

You can watch the livestream on Twitch.

Donations can be made to Special Effect through the Megapanel JustGiving page.

“It’s going to be a huge challenge to spend 24 hours talking about the games industry,” said Oscar Clark.

“But with the amazing support we have had from our guests we know this is going to be a funny and insightful event, with new discussions every hour that anyone can drop in to enjoy. And all in the name of Special Effect.”
