Event organiser UBM has cancelled all future GDC Europe events.

The conference had taken place in Germany, alongside Europe’s biggest games consumer event Gamescom, for years.

San Francisco focus

But with Gamescom growing its business area and GDC organisers looking to focus on making its main San Francisco event larger, the decision was made to drop the European event.

Despite bringing the event to a close, UBM said it still plans to “increase efforts to support the growth of European game professionals at the global event”. It is not clear how it aims to do this, however.

GDC 2017 in San Francisco will take place between February 27th and March 3rd.
