Zynga opens Helsinki office

Zynga has just opened a new office in Helsinki, Finland.

The new company was officially registered on December 13th 2016. Little is currently known about the office and exactly what its employees will be tasked with.

It’s possible it could be a full new development studio set up by the mobile publisher in the region, particularly given the amount of games industry talent the country is famous for.

Local studios include Rovio, Supercell, Remedy Entertainment, Seriously, PlayRaven, Futureplay and many more.

Zynga declined to comment on the news.

Busy year

Though Zynga has acquired and opened numerous offices around the world, it has never set up shop in Finland.

It's one of the first new studios set up under Zynga CEO Frank Gibeau, after he was appointed to the role in March 2016.

The news comes at the end of another busy year for Finland’s games industry. Recently Wargaming acquired Helsinki studio Boomlagoon, while Supercell acquired a 51% stake in Badland developer Frogmind in September, Animoca Brands bought Finnish studio TicBits for $3.7 million and AR specialist Magic Leap opened a new office in the country.
