Gameloft's Despicable Me: Minion Rush runs past 800 million downloads

Gameloft's licensed IP auto-runner Despicable Me: Minion Rush has achieved nearly 800 million downloads since it first launched.

The studio released an infographic to announce its other milestones that claims the game is the fifth most download mobile game of all time. It added the the game gains some 550,000 new players a day.

Players of the game have accumulated 2.5 billion hours of session time with 1.1 million sessions played every day. Its players have picked up 23 trillion bananas in-game.

Rushing ahead

To celebrate the milestone, Gameloft will be awarding its players with 50 tokens, three revives, and three golden prize pods until January 31st.

Despicable Me: Minion Rush was first launched in June 2013. It surpassed half a billion downloads in March 2015, shortly before EA nabbed the license in order to make Minions Paradise.

The game was a strong performer for Gameloft when it first launched, peaking at number 12 on the iPhone top grossing charts within a month of its launch.
