UK investors looking to make investments in mobile games companies now have a new avenue to take in the form of the newly-launched PlayFund.
PlayFund is an Enterprise Investment Scheme and Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme fund that seeks to earn investors a return of 250%. It will target developers who own IP rights to their video games.
The fund will operate as an evergreen fund, allowing investors to invest at any time. The minimum investment required to take part in the fund will be £20,000.
Accessing growth
"PlayFund gives UK investors the chance to access the growth of this market through the highly tax-efficient EIS and Seed EIS structures, which provide 30% and 50% tax relief respectively, plus other tax benefits," said Head of Origination Harvey Elliott.
"The expertise that PlayFund draws upon means the investments made by the fund will have the greatest chance of success. That's why we believe our target return of 250%, after three years, is highly realistic."
