Eyeing up a Spring 2017 release worldwide

Soft-launched mobile shooter Critical Ops surpasses 13 million downloads and 500,000 DAUs

Finnish game studio Critical Force's mobile FPS Critical Ops has surpassed 13 million downloads since soft-launching in October 2015.

The game broke 10 million downloads in November 2016, meaning an additional three million downloads were accrued in around three months.

Critical Force claims that its game also has over 500,000 DAUs and that players have made over 650,000 videos featuring the game. It also holds 400,000 positive reviews on Google Play.

Slow and steady

The developer has been slowly building up Critical Ops in soft launch and growing it as an eSport. The game is now scheduled for a Spring 2017 release worldwide.

Most recently, Critical Force partnered with fellow Finnish developer Reforged Studios to share knowledge and resources to grow their eSports titles together.

The potential for the game to become a popular eSport is huge, with Lead Design Tim Spaninks telling us that "eventually everyone will have an eSports capable device in their pocket, which makes the market potential a lot bigger than that of PC and consoles".
