Rovio partners with WWF for Earth Hour-themed Angry Birds Friends tournament

Rovio has partnered with global charity WWF to run an Earth Hour-themed tournament in its game Angry Birds Friends.

The tournament is running from now until March 27th and sees players taking out piggies and lightbulbs in order to promote smarter energy usage and raise awareness for climate change.

Earth Hour itself is an organised hour in which the WWF hopes for people around the world to turn off their lights for one hour on March 25th. It is organised to remind people of the small changes that can be made for a greener future.

Angry Birds Who?

Angry Birds Friends isn't exactly one of Rovio's best-known games, but it isn't performing all that poorly. It is currently sitting at rank 272 on the overall US top grossing charts on iOS.

Rovio regularly contributes to charity campaigns through cross-promotion in its games. It mostly recently took part in the Apple's Games for (RED) campaign to raise money for AIDS charity (RED).
