Nintendo has now sold over 500,000 units of its new Switch console in its home country of Japan.
As 4Gamer reports, sales data firm Media Create reported that its sales for March 20th to 26th were 78,441 units. This is up from 49,913 in the Switch's third week of launch.
Combining Media Create's sales data for the Switch's first four weeks, as reported by Kotaku, brings the total to 519,504 units sold.
Going strong
Sales estimates suggested that the Switch had sold over 1.5 million units worldwide within its first two weeks of launch. Sales in Japan accounted for 360,000 of these units.
The impressive launch has already encouraged Nintendo to increase its production of the console. It is reportedly doubling its production to 16 million units, with an eye to sell 10 million by the end of 2017.
Stock is also returning to stores in the wake of its strong early sales. US retailer GameStop received more stock on March 22nd, with other retailers receiving their stock at a later date.
