Apple now runs 96% of its business harnessing only renewable energy sources and has pledged to build its products using just recycled materials.
The news comes as the firm releases its 2017 Environmental Responsibility Report, which covers its progress towards lowering its carbon footprint through its fiscal year of 2016.
It claims to use 100% renewable energy in 24 countries including the US, UK and China, as well as in all of its data centres.
Overall, including its retail stores, distribution centres and all other aspects of the business, 96% of its energy usage is said to be from renewables.
Make the switch
Apple is also encouraging its suppliers and partners to operate on renewable energy. Seven of its major suppliers have pledged to switch their Apple production to only use renewable energy by the end of 2017.
The firm is also looking to reduce waste by recycling and reusing old devices to create its new ones. It claimed this "closed loop" supply chain will eliminate the need to mine the Earth for raw materials and reduce waste from entering landfills.
Apple also supports charities and causes linked to the environment through its App Store. It runs a yearly Apps For Earth campaign, which in 2016 saw a number of developers offer IAPs in their game that would donate money to the WWF.
