Has plenty more where that came from

GREE's release blitz scores sales of $142.4 million thanks to three top 50 grossing games

GREE has released its financials for its Q3 FY17 for the three months ending March 31st 2017.

It posted sales of $142.4 million for the quarter, up 3.5% quarter-on-quarter but down 5.5% year-on-year. Profits also dropped to $14 million, down 17% quarter-on-quarter but up 9% growth year-on-year.

The lion's share of its sales were made up from its games. Sales for its "paid services" came to $129 million, with the rest made up by GREE's advertising business.

Strong blitz

The company didn't break out the performance of individual games, but noted that its planned "release blitz" is seeing positive results. It launched two games in Japan in Q3, Rara-MAGI and A Farewell To Arms, both of which reached the top 50 grossing charts.

It also launched Another Eden just outside of its Q3 period, which has so far peaked at 6th on the grossing charts. The developer also has another five games set to launch in 2017, with a range of licensed and original IP.

GREE had revealed plans for a "release blitz" as part of its Q4 FY16 financials, following a particularly difficult year. This appears to be continuing into its FY18, as it already has plans to launch six third-party games in its next financial year.
