Apple is increasing the its App Store prices in a number of countries including any that use the Euro.
Citing foreign exchange rates as the reason for the change, Apple is upping the prices in Denmark, Mexico and Euro-using markets. The change will not affect auto-renewable subscriptions.
To provide more context, the change means that the cheapest items on the store will now cost €1.09. Previously the cheapest apps and IAPs were priced at €0.99.
The alternative
However, it also appears that Apple is introducing alternative pricings to the affected countries. In its updated pricing structure, the company outlines a separate "alternate tier" of pricing which starts at 49 cents per item in EU App Stores.
In addition to this, Apple is also adding a 5% VAT rate for customers in Taiwan. It will handle all tax collection in the region and will pay developers their share based on the tax-exclusive price.
India, Turkey and the United Kingdom also saw prices in their App Stores increase in January 2017. For the UK, this saw prices jump 25% thanks to the slumping value of the pound.
