King has soft-launched the next entry in its long-running Candy Crush Saga franchise titled Candy Crush Friends Saga.
The game was first released on May 2nd 2017 and is available on iOS and Android and Mexico and the Philippines. It has not received any updates so far.
Candy Crush Friends Saga sees players traversing through levels to save characters from previous games. It will also feature 3D character art and environments, though the gameplay looks like it will largely remain the same.
Crushing it
Candy Crush Saga first launched on Facebook in April 2012. Its mobile counterpart was released in November 2012 and has only left the top ten grossing ranks on iOS in the US twice since December 2012.
The game has spawned a number of sequels and spin-offs, though none has ever beaten the original's performance. A TV show based on the game is also due to air in July 2017.
King is also busy working on a midcore game based on the Call of Duty franchise, something of a departure for the studio's typical casual releases. It is currently hiring a team to start developing prototypes for the new title.
