Ubisoft teams up with Nintendo for Mario Rabbids crossover on Switch

Ubisoft has partnered with Nintendo to develop a new Nintendo Switch game that combines the publisher’s Rabbids IP with the iconic Mario franchise.

Called Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, the game opened Ubisoft’s E3 press conference. The title and artwork had been leaked before the show and was an expected announcement during the show.

Surprise guest star

Following an opening teaser video and an introduction by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot, Nintendo’s own Shigeru Miyamoto made a surprise appearance to discuss the game and the collaboration between the two companies.

The famous game designer said was a fan of the Rabbids IP and had known about the franchise for years.

In the game, players can venture around the world with their team in exploration mode, working their way to tactical turn-based battle zones where characters attack each other with cannons.

The title appears to be in development at Ubisoft Paris.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle will be released on the Nintendo Switch on August 29th 2017.
