Lineage 2 Revolution sees English language soft-launch in Asia ahead of worldwide release

Netmarble's wildly successful mobile RPG Lineage 2 Revolution has now soft-launched outside of South Korea as it begins its push worldwide.

An English language edition is now available in Cambodia, Hong Kong, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, and Thailand. It was launched in these countries on June 13th 2017.

Lineage 2 Revolution is already performing well in these regions. Netmarble states that it has shot to the top of the iOS grossing charts in Macau, as well as securing second place in the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand, and ninth place in Malaysia.

Worldwide success

The game is expected to launch in Japan in Q3 2017, with a China launch to follow in Q4 2017. It is also due for release in the West during 2017.

It has been a huge success since launching, having generated $176 million in revenues in its first month of release. It was also the top grossing game worldwide in February 2017, despite only being available in South Korea.

Lineage license holder NCSoft also saw a generous share of these revenues, receiving $35.4 million in royalties from Lineage 2 Revolution alone in its Q1 FY17. The developer is also looking to launch its own Lineage-based mobile game, Lineage M, in the coming months.
