Steel Media launches B2B PC gaming site PC Games Insider and industry event PC Connects

Steel Media Ltd has now launched its new B2B PC gaming website PC Games Insider along with its new PC Connectsevent to be held at Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki 2017 on September 19th-20th.

The new site is headed up by former MCV Deputy Editor Alex Calvin. It will cover everything from triple-A games to indie developers, as well as other markets such as eSports and PC hardware.

One of the launch features on the site is the PCGamesInsider.biz Top 20 PC Developers to Watch 2017, an incisive list of the studios that doing something interesting or different in the current games market, whether they be triple-A vets or industry newcomers.

It is also loaded with other interesting features and interviews, including a discussion with Introversion's Mark Morris on why Scanner Sombre failed, and an interview with Cliff Bleszinski on why he returned to game development for LawBreakers.

A PC gaming renaissance

"PC gaming is experiencing something of a renaissance at the moment, with so much going on in the space. From HTML 5 browser games to hardcore eSports, the sector has never been busier. It's great to have our new PC site up and running to help industry professionals quickly get to the most important news and analysis," said Steel Media COO Dave Bradley.

"And it means we'll be able to welcome PC content into our conferences, starting with PC Connects Helsinki on 19 and 20 September. It will feature a PC track, expo, and pitch event."

PC Connects will take place alongside the successful Pocket Gamer Connects and XR Connects conferences in Helsinki this September, and again in London in January.

In Helsinki (September 19-20th) attendees can expect four tracks of content as a taster of the PC insight and discussion future events will bring. Speakers and panelists will be formally revealed later this week. You can find out more about PC Connects on its website.

Mobile at its core

"Steel Media's core is and will always remain in the mobile gaming space, that’s not changing and we’re actually increasing resource to support our activities there. However, we recognise that our partners are interested in opportunities elsewhere and the PC space in particular is looking increasingly attractive for many in the mobile space," said Steel Media CEO Chris James.

"Following on from our launches into the AR/VR space last year, 2017's ventures are all about adding more benefit and utility to our industry platforms. Including PC in our online coverage and event series was inevitable and it's off to a fantastic start with Alex Calvin in the editor's role and Alex Boucher heading up the sales team."
