Rumour: Apple to unveil three new iPhones at its special event keynote including the iPhone X

Apple is reportedly set to unveil three new iPhones at its upcoming Special Event keynote on Tuesday 12th September 2017.

The models to be unveiled include the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, following the trend of a yearly upgrade for the iPhone. A new model, the iPhone X, is also set to be announced.

Word of the iPhone X has spread thanks to a tweet from programmer Steve Troughton-Smith, who uncovered references to the model in the iOS 11 code.

Not cheap

It is unclear what form the X would take, given that the 8 is already likely to be the main upgrade model. 2017 is the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, so it could be some kind of anniversary model - X is the Roman numeral for 10, after all.

Business Insider is also suggesting that the new iPhone 8 could cost as much as $1,000. This is not an entirely unreasonable suggestion, given that a 256GB iPhone 7 Plus costs $969.

Whether these remains turn out to be true is anyone's guess, but it seems likely. The only way to know for sure will be to tune into Apple's special event keynote on September 12th.
