App Annie is adding app usage metrics to over 5,000 of its tracked Android apps in China to provide better information about apps in the region.
The mobile app data firm has previously shown stats for apps on iOS in China, but this is the first time it will offer Android data. This includes MAUs and WAUs, usage penetration, session lengths, data usage, and more.
Data from China's Android apps is difficult to come by, due to the fragmented nature of its stores. This new information should be able to provide better insights into the region as a whole through App Annie, and not just its iOS users.

"As a globally-focused company, we are very impressed by the impact the Chinese market has had on the mobile space and are devoted to providing the most reliable data into this market for our customers," said Bertrand Schmitt, CEO and Co-founder of App Annie.
"China is a key leader in mobile and digital trends, and having independent and trustworthy insights into its mobile consumers is critical for businesses to build successful app strategies – both in China and internationally."
App Annie recently shuffled up its management team with a newly appointed President and Chief Financial Officer. Former CRO Ted Krantz scored the top job, while new hire Sujan Jain took the CFO role.
