Kakao Games merger brings total registered users to 550 million

Kakao Games has now reached over 550 million users as it officially begins operations as a single Kakao subsidiary.

The division merged with Kakao's own games branch in August 2017. The merger has now completed, and the new Kakao Games has launched as of November 1st 2017.

Kakao Games currently has over 10 million DAUs and has launched over 1,100 games over the last five years. It is now aiming to reach 30 million DAUs in the near future.

All over the world

The subsidiary operates games services across mobile, PC, VR and AR. It will now have access to Kakao VX, a development studio specialising in VR and AR, to bolster its portfolio.

It will also be looking to continue its global expansion, having launched in the US and Europe two years ago. Its future games will target a global market.

Kakao Games is also the distributor of NetEase's megahit Onmyoji in South Korea. The game launched in July 2017 and has held a steady top 20 grossing position on both iOS and Android.
